The Sustainable Angle is a non profit organisation which initiates and supports projects which contribute to minimizing the environmental impact of industry and society. Our project The Future Fabrics Expo focuses on the fashion industry and how its environmental impact can be lowered through innovation in the textile industry, and novel ideas to transform the fashion system and design practice.

In November 2011 The Sustainable Angle organized the first Future Fabrics Expo hosted by the London College of Fashion. The expo showcased a curated selection of woven and knitted fashion fabrics made from natural and man-made fibres, suitable for mainstream and mid- to high-end fashion brands.

Over 400 fabrics with a lower environmental impact were chosen according to quality, innovation, and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to improved performance across the supply chain, addressing the expo’s key environmental criteria of biodiversity, water, waste and energy.

In order to demonstrate that responsible fashion design goes beyond using sustainable fabrics, the next expo will again showcase lower environmental impact fabrics, but this time will also explore a wider framework, looking beyond materials to other stages of the clothing supply chain.    

We support and assist fashion designers who are interested to switch to sustainable fabrics for the first time in their career, or who require further help with their existing sustainable sourcing strategy. We assist fashion designers sourcing sustainable fabrics mainly via the Future Fabrics Expo's suppliers and mills who participate in the Expo.

We are able to discuss and tailor consultation services, fabric sourcing and mini expo presentations at design offices and conferences/events. 

The Sustainable Angle has sourced a comprehensive range of menswear, womenswear, tailoring, casual, performance and eveningwear fabrics with a lower environmental impact, suitable for a range of markets and price points.

These new men and women in agriculture operate and thrive despite a longstanding trend of farmer attrition and ageing, and the continued rapid loss of farmland to development. “The Greenhorns” shows how a new generation of young agrarians who farm with their brains as well as their bodies exert a promising and necessary impact against these crises. These greenhorns are working to reverse negative trends in favor of healthy food, local and regional foodsheds, and the revitalization of rural economies, one farm at a time.
